“The Hard Part of Computer Science? Getting into Class”

Students across the country seek to study computer science and colleges are struggling to find enough qualified professors to meet students’ demands.  According to the article, the number of computer science majors has doubled between 2013 and 2017, as a background in computer science is quickly becoming a necessity for many aspiring job seekers post-graduation.  Attracted to lucrative positions in the tech industry, many experts in the field choose to join the private sector over working in higher education.  As a result, undergraduates in many schools have a difficult time securing a spot in computer science classes, particularly if they are not majoring in the subject area. Universities are also making it more difficult for undergraduates to transfer into computer science programs if they were previously admitted into a different school or program.
