College Applicants: Don’t Dismiss a FAFSA!

With the economic hardship the world has faced over the pandemic, one might assume that financial aid applications would have skyrocketed last year. However, despite such circumstances, FAFSA applications were down 5%. This change is likely due to the fact that those hit hardest by Covid decided not to apply to college at all. Another common reason for not applying for financial aid is that families mistakenly believe they will not qualify, which leaves billions of dollars unused. The FAFSA application’s complexity is an additional concern as many students and parents do not know how to complete and file the necessary paperwork. Although FAFSA is looking to simplify the process, efforts havebeen delayed until the 2024-25 school year.
